Because they are bold, a little goes a long way — run your diffuser on a low setting and let the scent build gradually. Micro-mesh diffusion works best with thin, low-viscosity liquids, and some woody and resinous oils — sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli and resins like frankincense and myrrh — are naturally thick. That is a property of the oil, not a fault in the device. If a rich oil mists slowly, thinning it with a little alcohol (roughly 60–80% alcohol to 20–40% oil) or blending it with a free-flowing citrus usually restores a clean, even mist.
